Melbourne Cup

Tuesday was Melbourne Cup day – this is when (supposedly) the whole nation comes to a standstill. The world’s best horses come down to win the Melbourne Cup and we (punters) have fun betting along with some champagne and food. I joined the fun by betting $17 on various horses for different positions – our Team had organised for some champagne and drinks along with few others – we sat down to watch the great race together!! It doesn’t take very long-once started the horses finish the lap in few mins!! Women wore hats and men wore crazy ties! And everyone sat clutching our coupons (for bets) – and the race begins!! Two of my horses came FIRST and THRID and I won $27 (damn wish I had put more money). A profit of $10 – not bad eh!! Until next year then….more money next time….hehe

few hours when chennai, sydney and SFO is in darkness

I'm going to hit the sack soon - did a F12 on my iMac and noticed that all three cities are in darkness right now - thought that was pretty cool - SFO will have sunrise soon - Chennai just had sunset - it's around 00:00 in sydney!!

Back to normal life - THE india trip that I had looked forward to so long is finished - gotta wake up, iron my clothes, cook my own food and trudge to work on the cityrail - regular life begins - have to cook my own food - no more mum to pamper me....

Well - we were delayed in chennai due to rain - missed our connecting flight in singapore - had to take a Qantas flight through adelaide to sydney - well at least rapee got to see her brother Prachya - it was nice of him to drop quickly at the airport to see her...

After the many hrs of flying back to normal life - took my car out for a drive - worked on my imac - meet the boys and girls at the Big Red House - all is well - there is joint b'day party at BRH for Sally and Katherine - around 50-80 people are expected - should be good - I might be dressing up like a ninja ...hehe

Rapeewan Turland

Who is Rapeewan Turland? Everyone calls her ‘Rapee’, I call her …hmmm.. let’s not go there ;) For those who are oblivious of the obvious, Rapee is my girl friend =D

Rapee is from Thailand, she came to Australia (Adelaide) when she was 4 years old and ever since life has been a roller coaster!! I still learn new things about Rapee everyday but from what I know (and keeping it brief) I shall attempt to describe Rapee here, but you will have to meet her to KNOW her =)

Rapee is a nurse who is aspiring to be a dentist; she took time off uni for a year or two and tried being a personal trainer; although fitness is still her passion, she has decided not to have it as a career. She can also play (supposedly – I have to hear to believe …hehe) the piano, violin and flute!!! Rapee is bubbly, crazy, full of surprises, laughs out real loud and runs around like a little child! Her genuine care and love for people is what got me hooked to her!! As I said, meet Rapee to know her – which you will someday!!

I will be talking/posting more stuff about Rapee and I – watch out!! hehe

India Visits

(I shall exclude my normal excuses for not blogging and go straight to ….)

My bro has been visiting India for the last 3 weeks, he has posted some really nice photos on FLICKR which can be accessed through his blog (link on sidebar). His friend Darrell accompanied him and being his first visit to a third world country; it would have been AN experience.

Visiting India is like going HOME! Spending time with family, memories, culture and food – brings back a lot of feelings and emotions! Sometimes makes you think is it worth living away from it!!

That’s why - I’m away to HOME this October for 4 weeks! Hooorrraaaayyyy Yiiiippppeeeee! My holiday has been sanctioned and all flight etc arrangements are being made!! Get ready mom to start cooking for a BIG boy’s BIG home made south indian food appetite!!

Although it has been 3 years since my last visit, I’m sure once there it will feel like I never left!

October is a perfect month to visit!! As soon as I land, there is the three day DURGA pooja festival, Dad’s birthday on Oct 9th and Diwali on the 21st – what more do you need – ah yes – autumn weather (if you can call it autumn!!)

Although I’ve lost contact with most of my friends; planning to round them all up for a get together – should start sending those emails!! But most of all, really looking forward to renewing my indian roots, visiting annanagar (my birth place) and mostest of all being with MOM and DAD =D

Another blog site to check

Rapee has her own blog site - there is a link on my side bar too!! ====>>>

She just started; inspired by mine and arvind's blogs (although I strongly believe the inspiration was more from the latter ;)) Check it out and get to know her more - let's hope she is more regular than me!! hehe
