Four Wheel driving is a pastime I have enjoyed from the late 1970's. My first experience started with beach driving in the Cooloola region of Queensland chasing the fish up and down the beaches. Later we tested our new Landcruiser Wagon there before setting out on a journey of 17,000 kilometres throughout the northern regions of Australia. Some years later we moved back to Melbourne and I continued gaining experience with mountain terrain driving in the Victorian Alps region on trout fishing expeditions.
I am passionate about retaining some of these regions for public recreation. My children have grown up with memories of good camping experiences and so should their kids.
Treated sensibly 4WDriving tracks can survive within the environment with restraint from us all.
So remember to " TREAD LIGHTLY " for the future, wherever you go.
We have owned several 4wd vehicles starting with a 1977 Toyota Landcruiser, a 1980 Troopcarrier, Toyota RAV4, then a few years later a new 1999 Land Rover Defender Tdi. Some would say a backwards step, however as an economical touring/towing wagon I haven't been able to fault it. We tow a 5.50m pop top caravan weighing approx. 2 tonne with a diesel fuel consumption of 13.5-14.0 litres / 100 km. Not bad at today's diesel prices!.

Each month I eagerly await my copy of Australian 4WD Monthly magazine, for a good read & romp around the countryside. I use their excellent articles and features to plan interesting trips throughout our fine land. We do many trips with and without our caravan(read trailer home)to a wide range of locations including Western Queensland, West Australian Coastline, Cape Leveque WA, Gibb River Road WA, Bungle Bungles WA, Cooktown Qld, Double Island Point Qld, Nullarbor SA, WA Southwest, Birdsville and Strzelecki Tracks.

Some trips are full on whilst others are ambling along quietly enjoying ourselves, looking at great scenery and varied wildlife. Check out TRIPS, WAYPOINTS & PHOTO GALLERY for good Aussie Adventure.
