Wanaaring - White Cliffs

In April 2005 we followed the NSW border from Lightning Ridge across to Wanaaring via Culgoa Plains NP and Bourke. The road conditions varied from black soil to sand to bulldust and very large stones. The tracks are signposted and well defined in most parts. From Wanaaring we took a rough track with lots of gates, passing through many sheep properties before we rejoined the main road into White Cliffs.

Not much of a road Good wide road Dad and chick Not another gate Bore tank Lots of goats

White Cliffs is a fascinating place with lots of entertaining characters at the local pub. We stayed overnite at the underground motel after a drive around the fields and opal jewellery shops. This place looks like a moonscape. Lots of wildlife outside of town.
