The Defender is an excellent heavy duty touring wagon. It is economical to run and is a very strong towing vehicle. One tends to live with the cabin ergonomics and lack of sophistication, however the payoff is fewer things can breakdown. The modified coil suspension gives a very comfortable ride over corrugated roads without pitch or sway. Airbag pressures are adjustable for extra load carrying and improved handling.
The Cooper Discoverer ST-C tyres have improved the handling. They were excellent on a recent 7000 Km trip on dirt, sand and rocky roads with remarkably very little damage or chipping and no punctures.
We have travelled around the country so far covering 120,000 Kms. of which 75,000 Kms. were towing a 2 tonne tandem axle caravan.
