MALE FAMILY HOLDS RECORD
FOR CONTINUOUS ATTENDANCE
There has been a descendant of Mrs E. Male and the late Mr. F. Male, who
were among the early settlers, attending Tara State School for 53 years.
Their eldest son, George, started school at the age of seven years in
the first school building, still used and since enlarged. He boarded first
with Mr. Kinlon, and later with our first teacher, Mrs. C. Kennedy, who
then lived at and owned "Kinnoul," where Mr. and Mrs. J. H.
I. Travers now live. Later, George's sisters, Eloise and Fran, and brothers
Robert, Lindorff and Adrian, attended school here. The year the youngest
son, Adrian, left Tara State School to go to the Toowoomba Grammar School,
George's eldest son Terence (deceased at 15 years) commenced school, and
was followed by his sisters and brothers Selwyn, Pauline, Quentin, Christine
and David. Lindorff's children, Bevan, Michael and Susan, and Adrian's
children Lyndee-Lou, Iyana, Wendy-Jane, Kylie and Zane, either have attended
or are attending, and next year, Selwyn's eldest daughter will begin school.
There are younger Males to follow, so it looks as if this record will
not stop at 53 years.

1972
