Pentax *ist D Image Noise This page attempts to practically illustrate the noise generated by a Pentax *ist D at each available EI (equivalent film ISO) in a wide brightness range image. Following is a set of constant aperture exposures captured using a Pentax *ist D at EI 200, EI 400, EI 800, EI 1600 and EI 3200:
Illumination was full midday sunlight. The source images were saved in camera as full resolution Best quality jpg files, the image strips above are 1:1 crops saved as best quality jpg in sRGB CS. Camera settings were CS AdobeRGB, WB Daylight, Saturation 0, Sharpness -2 and Contrast -2. Some original EXIF data is available in the images.
