Zachary's 4th Month

Well Zac is now 4 months and is still growing quickly :) He is now 28 kilograms and has grown into size 6 clothes. At least that's what is feels like (more realistically he is > 8kgs and well into size 0 in most brands). Unfortunately he has contracted "infantile seborrhoeic dermatitis" which gives him an itchy rash on his body and scalp. He gets really agitated trying to scratch it all the time and is really uncomfortable and often irritable (I don't blame him), not at all his usual self. Kay has stopped eating dairy and spicy foods in case it was an allergic reaction, and we have tried a few different bath products as well as some creams and prescriptions from our GP but it hasn't cleared up yet. Poor Kay gets really upset when he cries (he never cried before this) because she can't do anything. He is a little trooper though and soldiers on. Hopefully it will clear up soon.

He's wearing shoes these days as he's always trying to stand and balance, but he still needs some help in doing so. Here's our good friend Sally hanging out with Zac:

Wherever Kay goes Zac goes, he doesn't like leaving home without the milk bar, that's for sure! Here's Zac with Kay's best friend Yuki again, somewhere in the Hunter on a wine tasting tour (not Zac or Kay):

Zac still likes hanging out with Dad watching the footy, but he seems to like Dad explaining the rules to him more, or constantly pulling him up under the armpits so he can "stand" by himself.

Zac also helps out with all the housework like fetching the mail, putting bins out and building fires, although he also falls asleep on the job quite often too :)

He really likes this play rug and spends some time there every day amusing himself and doing tummy-time head-up exercies, then often falls asleep . . .

As Zac is now >8 kgs and can also keep his head up we could turn the car seat around, so he can face forwards. (When they are very young babies face backwards almost lying down in car capsules or baby seats so braking pressure doesn't strain the weak neck muscles). He loves facing forwards and looking out the window or talking to Mum & Dad in the car, he thinks he is such a big boy now :)
