Zachary's 7th Month

Zac is now 7 months and growing longer but not much extra weight. His skin is better as Kay has stopped eating eggs, dairy products, soy and wheat, along with coffee, spicy foods and alcohol. Poor Kay! More importantly he is talking - his first word (that we understand) was "Dada" which initially I don't think he really associated with Dave, but just before Dave left Japan Zac was saying "Dada" and holding his arms out to him for a cuddle so we think he knows who Dave is. He is crawling backwards (still!) and upset he can't go forward (still!) and is standing much better now, 3 or 4 seconds before losing balance or his legs giving out. He is rolling from back to tummy and tummy to back at will combined with his crawling means we can't put him down somewhere unattended any more.

He is travelling around Japan with Kay (Dave was there for 3 weeks) and he is quite used to getting off and on and travelling in planes, bullet trains, buses, cars etc. Wherever we go he sleeps well wherever we put him - unless he was teething. He now also has his 2 front bottom teeth :)

We went to a fancy restaurant - the menu had a $10,000 bottle of wine which we didn't partake in - and Zac got to watch all the food prepared by our private chef . . . and then dined out on his usual breastmilk :) He is doing 4 feeds a day typically 7am / 11am / 3pm / 6:30pm although the travelling and teething plus a growth spurt put the routine out for a few days.

Zac is quite interested in normal food and watches attentively when we eat:

He makes friends wherever he goes but really likes (live) dogs and (stuffed) tigers :)

This is Zac with Kay's fathers parents (they were very kind to all of us when we visited):

And this is Zac with Kimiko, which is Kay's grandmother's older sister (Zac's Great-Great Aunt?)

Zac with Kay's friends Yuko & Katsu:

Zac is getting quite good at photos, we call his name or click our fingers, he smiles, we take the photo and we all move on to the next place!
