Zachary's 9th Month

Well Zac turned 9 months old in December and got really fast at crawling. He got longer but not much heavier. His skin is a lot better since mum stopped eating dairy, soy, eggs, sesame and shellfish (she's still off coffee and alcohol as well so poor Kay!) and has become quite talkative. Other than "Dadadadad" we have no idea what he is talking about but he lets us know when is upset at floor height differences he can't climb up or down, or if he's bored. Here's a typical day in Zac's routined life:

He wakes up about 6:30am to 7am after banging his head into the side of the cot. He prefers sleeping sideways even though he is getting too long for that! Buddy loves his buddy . . . we call him B2 for short (Buddy's buddy). First it's breakfast, nappy change, get dressed then some playtime with mum, then it's off to wake Dad :)

Buddy usually prefers climbing all over Dad and banging on his head until he stirs, but Kay got this photo during a quiet moment :) Dad gets dressed and ready for work or reno then buddy goes back to bed about 8:30am for 2 hours or so. After the morning sleep, it's time to play with mum or help Dad work around the house:

Zac has learnt when picking up sticks (prior to mowing) not to pick up the moving ones . . . they can bite! The other day Dad and Zac came across a "brown" snake on the lawn, so Dave killed it with a shovel (one shot :) only to discover it was probably, um, a brown-backed green tree snake . . . oops! After a bit of work or play it's off to shop or visit friends:

Zac says hello to Sophia Lee, his godparents new daughter, in Newcastle. Fortunately Zac can still sleep anywhere:

We take a portable cot around for night-time (eg Bible Study or dinners at friends) sleeps and just chuck him in the car then back in bed, no problems. Here's Zac with the japanese relo's:

In the afternoon Mum takes Zac for a walk, often to a friends to feed the chooks and say hi to the animals. Always well protected of course:

He is often tired after his walk and being so young, it doesn't take much alcohol for him to pass out . . .

But it's wide awake for dinner - he started enjoying his solids between 9 and 10 months and likes mashed vegetables and hot chips :) Just before he turned 9 months he had his first Christmas . . .

Of course he liked the wrapping paper more than the present :)
