2006 KNOCK-OUT TOURNAMENT

 

Date:           Tuesday 04-Apr-06    (Clocks start at 7:30pm)

Prizes:         1st $120 ; 2nd $90 ; 3rd $70  (+Trophies for 1st, 2nd & 3rd)

                    1st Swiss $40  +  2 x Random Prizes $40     

            (Other prize winners and players with unapproved forfeits will not qualify for Random prizes).

RULES:  FIDE rules of chess will apply.

The Tourney will be played over 10 weeks.  

Each Round (2 weeks) will consist of :

2 x games (All moves in 60 min + 10 secs per move from start) - One game per week - The higher rated player will be Black in the 1st game - colours are switched for the 2nd game.

Tie-Break:   If the result is drawn then immediately after the 2nd game (ie on the same night) the players will play -

2 x Rapidplay games (All moves in 15 mins Guillotine) - Colours continue to alternate from previous rounds.

If the result is still drawn then the players will play -

5 min Blitz games - Colours continue to alternate from previous rounds. Blitz games will continue until one player is 2 points ahead of his opponent (eg 4:2 or 4.5:2.5 or 5:3 etc.)

 

DEFERRED GAMES:

Games may be deferred for valid reasons. 

Players MUST advise John Mazzieri (Phone:02 4283 3080; e-mail mazzieri@swiftdsl.com.au) if they want their games postponed. It is the responsibility of the player postponing the game to advise his opponent before the game is due to be played and to arrange a date at which it will be played (this date must be acceptable to the opponent). Failure to do so will result in a loss.

ALL GAMES MUST BE COMPLETED BY THE SATURDAY PRIOR TO THE FOLLOWING ROUND.
